AquaRiva Tequila Reposado

AquaRiva Tequila Reposado is a 100% Blue Agave premium Tequila developed for bartenders to ensure perfect cocktails every time. AquaRiva Reposado is produced from mature Agave from the highlands of Mexico and pure volcanic spring water. Aged in used American Oak Whiskey barrels for a minimum of 3 months, AquaRiva Reposado is divinely smooth and delicate with highlights of ripe fruit, toasted honey and caramel biscuit with a long passionate finish.

Celebrity Affiliation:
Cleo Rocos, best known as Kenny Everett’s glamorous co-star, is now taking the Tequila world by storm.  Visiting Mexico often, Cleo became an educated aficionado and the UK’s first 'tequilera'. In 2009 Cleo was officially recognized as the 'Tequila Queen' by the Mexican Tequila Chamber, Camara Nacional de la Tequilera.

The name AquaRiva came from one of Aristotle Onassis's tenders used to ferry guests to and from his yacht ‘Cristina’, which Cleo had admired as a child.

Love the retro look and feel of the label and bottle. A very enjoyable cocktail base with versatility and loads of flavour. This is available in the Virgin Clubhouse as a margarita made with the brands own agave syrup, very refreshing and ideal for flying without the heavy head most drinks leave. The premium handmade version is available in the UK at Harvey Nichols and on-line and is very complex with 40%ABV.

Impossible to find fault with this reposado as it is real value for money. This is also the brand created by Cleo Rocos author of The Power of Positive Drinking, Well Done Cleo

The bottle I am sampling has a UK stamp as my girlfriend purchased it in London. It is 38% as noted above.

Nose has faint cooked agave, but mostly alcohol. There is a smidge of fruit, caramel, and oak.

Initial sensation in the mouth is alcohol tingle and heat. The taste does have some agave present, along with the nose characteristics of slight fruit, caramel, and oak; nothing overly complex here. The body is light-to-medium - not watery or thin, but not oily or coating, either.

A quick, heated finish that fades quickly. I get a bit of lingering bitterness.

I appreciate the simplistic presentation - kind of a retro pic of a couple dancing, with a gold border on the sticker. I like the screw cap.

This was a budget tequila for mixing in the UK where purchased, and it lives up to that quite well. It makes a fine marg, but it's not a sipper.
