I was surprised how much i ended up like this blanco. It is by far the best tequila that Jose Cuervo makes.

This is not a typical blanco, and not a typical nose...and I don't mean that in either a good or bad way. There is some sweet cooked agave in there, but I mainly get yeast - bread...maybe sourdough. It's really like nothing else, so hard for me to compare. Once it hits your mouth, the typical Cuervo taste kicks in - more yeast with some sweetness, but I'm not a fan. Again, it's hard to compare this; it's not that this is awful, but I just don't care for the JC taste. Moving on, actually a nice velvety body with this platino, and a nice, mild mouth-numbing. Overall, a very above-average body. Hard to rate the finish here; on the one hand, it is smooth with a medium-to-long duration of good quality; on the other hand, it has the classic Cuervo taste and lingering.

This is really tough to measure for overall enjoyability. My scores jumped around a lot. It has a nice body and a decent finish from a physical aspect, but the JC taste is not my thing. Price really fails on this product. It has an ultra-premium price wherever you find it, and it simply is not worth it. If you can find it at a 'bargain' of, say, $40 or less, it might be worth having in your collection, but not as a go-to blanco. A very elegant bottle normally packaged in a nice wooden box. The label is colorful and artful.

I was surprised with this tequila on a visit to my son-in-law. I've never been a big Cuervo fan, considering it for the most part a cheap shooter/mixer. I was utterly and pleasantly amazed by the flavor and smoothness of this product. It is as good in its own way as many reposados and some anejos. I'll be adding this to my collection and would encourage anyone who appreciates fine things to do so as well. VERY good indeed.

In short, this was a decent blanco tequila that is wonderfully packaged and not at all worth the price.

Aroma: Simple agave and maybe a bit of earth and spice.
Initial Taste: Clean, light agave and a touch of bitterness that I didn't like that much.
Body: Thin, but the agave comes through a bit more.
Finish: A bit of burn and it doesn't stay with you.

If you bought it, you'll enjoy it and enjoy the bottle. From a value perspective, you can just flat out do better. It will look great on a shelf though.

I won't lie, I have plenty of memories tied to the Cuervo brand. The first tequila I ever drank was Cuervo gold, and I'm sure this is the case with most everybody reading this, and like it or not, the Cuervo name has a certain mystique.
But alas, times have changed and we have all moved on to better things. This Cuervo Platino is certainly a better thing. This is a nice tequila. Smooth, flavorful, and with one of the best bouquets of any spirit I've had recently. I smell it and I just want it.
Overall, this is a smooth, tasty, agave laden tequila that shines with the best of them. Highly recommended.
