My first experience with anything from the Cava de Don Anastacio line. Great looking bottle and a solid distillery. It's always fun going into tasting these thing blindly. Let's jump in
Price: $40-50/bottle
Aroma: A great nose full of agave, citrus fruit and pepper. Light floral notes round it out nicely.
Initial Taste: Nice agave sweetness on the front of the tongue with some citrus and pepper sizzle.
Body: Medium body with nice oils. Nice agave profile. Citrus, floral and vegetal notes make for a nice complex body.
Finish: A very peppery/spicy finish that last a while. There’s a bit of an alcohol burn as well, but it’s not at all unpleasant.
This is a very solid all around blanco with lots of agave and complex flavors. It has a bit of an edge to it, which might be a bit much for some palates, but big bold flavors are right up my alley in a blanco. The price is right on in the $40s. It's a very well crafted tequila and I'm looking forward to tasting the other expressions.
