Antigua Cruz Tequila Silver

Tequila Antigua Cruz Silver

Tequila Antiqua Cruz is made from 100% Blue Agave Tequiliana Weber, which is grown, produced, and bottled in Arandas, Mexico, a small town located in the high region in the state of Jalisco. Arandas is the only place in the world where the climate provides for the optimal growth of this marvelous plant. Pure 100% agave Tequila, crystalline, with great scent and flavor. The integrity that comes from 150 years of distilling the true spirit of Tequila. The plants used for Antigua Cruz Tequila require from 7 to 10 years to mature before they are ready to harvest. Enjoy the true flavor of the agave, not mixed with other flavors, and triple distilled, it is smooth and mild.

Tasted in a Riedel glass.
This flavours that come through on this tequila are agave (much like the 1800 silver, but nicer) and pepper. Very clean tasting. An enjoyable blanco.

I picked up a bottle of Antigua Cruz Silver today. I bought it because I was curious to see such an inexpensive 100% blue agave tequila ($16 for 750ml.) I've had good luck with the value/quality of the Espolon product. The Antigua Cruz was a few dollars less and the presentation is very good for an inexpensive 100% blue agave. The appearance of the packaging (box and bottle) are very good, the tequila is decent, but not as good as I hoped. The taste as a bit of harshness to it, unlike other 100% agave tequilas that I've tasted. It seems to need to be distilled further. I'd put it on par with a good mixto tequila, and at the price it's sold for it's at about the same price, so it's a decent value.

Antigua Cruz Tequila Silver, NOM 1406. Crystal clear in color with high, almost oily appearing legs. This tequila has a light, agave nose with some traces of alcohol & a wonderfully sweet, almost cloying, initial taste. In fact it's the sweetest blancos I've ever tasted. The nice agave balance is accompanied by samplings of cardamon, citrus, pepper, & a hint of ginger. These tastes & sweetness carry into this light medium body spirit, leaving as quickly as it came, ending in a rather disappointing finish. However it was a smooth & mellow experience, being some consolation for such an abrupt departure. If you can find this uncommon tequila, it is a good buy especially when Margarita's are top priority. B/B+
