I won't bash it like others as it serves a purpose and without it I would have never branched out the way I have. That being said I agree with others whenever they say there is better and Don Julio is better.

Don Julio is a light and crisp blanco, which is what I prefer, so take that with a grain of salt (no pun intended). There is a slight citrus front that ends with a smooth tiny burn at the end that leaves your mouth clean.

This is a perfect Swiss army do it all tequila. When I go out tasting or buying new bottles of blanco I make sure I try it side by side with Don Julio.

Bad, good, great? Great!

What I enjoy most about it is it's incredible smoothness and lengthy agave tastes.

Nose: citrus, agave and somewhat earthy
Initial Taste: true to the nose it is heavy on the agave but also is a bit sweeter than the nose suggests
Finish: The best part of this product. This is one of the cleanest blanco finishes there is but it has lingering agave and a touch of smoke.

In the USA expect to pay anywhere from $34 to $44 while in Mexico around 240 Pesos ($18 USD at the time) to 350 Pesos ($26 USD at the time). If you are interested in tequila, this is both a classic and a must. This is the benchmark that so many of these upstart premium brands are attempting to emulate. NOTE: if you buy this in mexico it will not have a cork but rather a screw bottle with a drip-stop.

Mouthfeel is summertime cream soda; sweet agave taste, spiky tickle, buttery, fruity/citrusy, and floral. This is a smooth sweet ride, an amusement park of deliciousness. And there's a smart pepper bite on the finish that elevates it from mere playful to something with a bit of gravitas. It doesn't have the robust complexities of some blancos, but it's Don Julio - it doesn't have to. It's perfect as it is. After the 1942 this is my favourite of the always respectable Don Julio line-up. Tremendously enjoyable.

I tasted brands like Chinaco, Yeyo, Patron, Milagro, Espolon, Corzo, Corozon, Milagro Select, Familia Camarena, Casa Noble, Don Eduardo, 1800, Herradura, and Ambhar and so on.

This was my favorite blanco for my palate. I feel that Don Julio has defined my palate in every category. I find their tequila to be consistently the watermark for my tequila personal preference. I paid $34 for a 750mL and then later $85 for a 1.75L

Tasted out of a wine glass (maybe ill get my tequila glasses soon!)

Nose: Citrus, Dill, and a sweet agave.

Initial taste: smooth and oily on the mouthfeel, that leads into a citrus and sweet agave body.

Finish: Light a paper with a lasting agave on the tongue. I love this finish, it lasts and lasts. It's why I pour another shot. It it were non-alcoholic I'd drink it all day for this finish. I love it.

The bottle does a great job of hiding how good the tequila is, and by that, the bottle is short and stout, but nothing of interest. I held off on buying this for so long because it didn't look the price.

In closing: I love this tequila. I tried many brands, and I'm glad for that, but it would have been better money spent if I just picked up few 1.75L of this.

However, I do seem to enjoy their aged ones more than the blanco.

Aroma: A nice agave smell and a compliment that is almost creamy. A nice vanilla nose to go along with agave.
Taste: A pleasant agave flavor and some sweetness. It's a little thick for a blanco for me, but is pleasant in all aspects, but doesn't blow me away in any either.
Finish: It's a light and short finish with a hint of citrus. Again pleasant, but not remarkable.

An overall solid tequila, but there's as good or better options out there for under $40.

I had try a nice quantity of them while traveling down south Mexico.
By far there are some fancy/inflated tequilas, but when it comes to blanco Tequila,Don Julio Blanco will be my pick.
I used to drink El Agavero Blanco artesanal tequila. At $60.00 bucks a bottle was a deal due to the great flavor of the former. Sadly i haven't be able to find it any more.
Anyways. A caballito (shot glass) and a slice of lemon will pare very well with the Don Julio.

Entry is sweet and floral, with messages of agave and lime. Agave expands only slightly in the body, and fade is rapid with mild bitterness and a pleasant alcohol tingle.
Flavour line is clean and fresh, but nothing exceptional. It is an adequate high-production product, but as a sipper it lacks the definition, depth and character of many of its artesanal competitors.

The nose is very light, with agave being up front, followed by underling hints of lime and many floral nuances. The first sip revealed a modest hit of agave and light hints of a peppery spice, along with lemon/lime nuances. This is not what I would call a full bodied tequila, more medium bodied IMHO. A few more sips revealed a very creamy mouth feel with a very up front, but not too intense, agave flavor profile. This is very enjoyable and goes down a bit too easy. The finish is moderate with light hints of lime. I like it!

Of all the blanco's I've tried this would be on the short list of my favorites. The aroma is a little too astringent for my liking, but there is also a floral and citrus presence. Not my favorite smelling tequila, but the smell doesn't mean much to me. Flavor is interesting - it has a thicker flavor than many other blancos and I really enjoy that. It's not quite syrupy, but it's more syrupy than watery. There is also quite a peppery flavor. I don't know that I can describe it well, but it has a unique aftertaste that I quite enjoy. The cool thing to me about this tequila is that it tastes very similar to the rest of the Don Julio line. In other words, it tastes like if you put this in a nice barrel for a year it would soften a bit and taste like their anejo. Seems like they all should be like that, but as many people know that's not always the case. Anyway, if you're looking for a great blanco (or any tequila for that matter) you can't beat Don Julio. Don Julio seems to be very available, at least in the mid-west and out east. In my opinion Don Julio is an all around great line and very consistent.

Tasted out of a snifter 11/17/08. The Don Julio line is what I consider my 'go to' line. Most places carry it so I can always count on it. I consider their line extremely consistent and a great value. Don Julio blanco was also the first 100% agave tequila I tried way back in 2003. I liked it then, I like it even more now.

Aroma: A light yet present creamy nose of dill and citrus.
Initial Taste: A semi oily mouth feel. A slightly creamy entry with no bitterness or alcohol burn. Initial taste was a slight pepper and citrus.
Body: an excellent agave body. Not overpowering, and not too subtle, with hints of citrus, pepper, and floral.
Finish: A very pleasant unheated finish of medium duration with a lingering citrus aftertaste.

Don Julio Blanco

Color: clear
Aroma: floral
Taste: flower salad with ground black pepper and light on the tongue

I enjoy the light blanco mouthfeel of the Don Julio Blanco, though I enjoy a more fiery Tequila than the floral taste.

Disappointed with the presentation as the bulbous bottle is nice, but the wood cap hides a plastic screw top. For the price and history of the Don Julio Blanco I would expect a corked bottle.

For blancos I would much rather drink either the Chinaco, Corralejo or the El Diamante Del Cielo. My current top three blanco picks as of the writing of this review.

This tequila has a clean, unpronounced, almost neutral agave nose. The initial taste is sweet spicy pepper & slightly hot. The body is complex, slightly antiseptic, with very deep spice, citrus & earthy agave flavors. It is also very crisp, clean & smooth without any alcohol burn, prevalent in many other tequilas of lesser refinement. The finish is light, similar to the aroma, with a hint of black pepper.
This is one of my favorite Margarita tequilas with a slick, almost surfactant taste/finish. B+/A, top shelf.

The tequila is clear in color with intense earthy and smokey aromas followed by moderate-to-intense aromas of floral, spice, and chocolate. A soft mellow entry leads to a low sweet taste, with low-to-moderate bitterness and moderate-to-heavy agave taste. While there is only moderate agave flavor, the tequila has intense earthy and floral. The tequila finishes with a short duration of flavor and a tingly alcohol finish. Overall, I gave the tequila a "B."
