From the nose of this one I knew it wasn't going to be a favorite of mine, but here are the tasting notes that I found.

Aroma: EARTHY agave scent on the nose with hints of citrus. Maybe a touch of smoke as well
Initial Taste: Sweeter initial taste than I anticipated. The earth and floral notes are still there, but it is very agave forward first and foremost.
Body: Thin, but oily body. Earthy flavors come forward as it moves along the tongue.
Finish: Light pepper finish that last a short to medium duration. Citrus flavors mix in to give it a fairly interesting finish. Very smooth.

I didn't like the nose much, liked the initial taste finish. This is a pretty good blanco for those who like the earthier blancos. It was smooth from start to finish and the flavors we robust and pleasant. For the $30 price range

The blanco was my first purchase of the line, and I have to say this tequila may not be for everyone. True aficionados should try it, but this may scare off newbies.

The nose is very pungent. It has a chemical smell that overpowers the other things going on. Behind the chemical smell is a strong agave punch, earth, with burnt caramel and smokiness as well. In fact, if I didn't know better, I might have guessed this was a Mezcal. I happen to like Mezcal, but that is where I expect to find smokiness. Since making tequila involves steam-cooking, I don't have a place for smokiness in it, especially in a blanco.

Once this 4 Copas enters your mouth, though, the chemical attributes tend to dwindle. The earth, agave, and burnt caramel remain present up front. The smokiness is still slightly there as well, but less so at this point, and it is more mild and turns to sweetness, again like a Mezcal. The body is medium-to-thin, so fairly light. It creates a pleasant tingling in the mouth, especially around the edges of the tongue.

The finish is ultimately smooth. There is a quick burn around the back of the tongue and the top rear palate, but it diminishes quickly, and does not continue down the throat and linger.

The bottle is rather plain and uninviting, but it has a nice big cork and wooden cap.

I have read that there is some dispute on the 'organic' status of this juice, including a question of additives (maybe a fake smokiness?), but it is worth trying for a true tequila lover. Again, for a newbie I wouldn't suggest it. Maybe the pungent smell goes away after it opens up a bit.

The nose has a delicate citrus which is very pleasing and draws you in. Initial taste smooth with some inital sweetness, very refined. Body is magnificent not overbearing just perfectly balanced. Finish, as suprisingly long, smooth and sweet nothing short of awesom. This has quickly become one of my top 2 blancos, the presentation is adequate nothing stellar but whats inside nectar d'or! I enjoy this much more than some of my more expensive blancos. Highly Highly recommend!

This blanco is one of the best I have tasted. I had a glass of ice on the side to cut it, though I never dropped a cube in. This blanco is so smooth and tasty.

An excellent blanco that doesn't overdo it, or fall short. Highly recommended for new tequila drinkers who still need a little convincing. Personally, I would never mix this one.

Aroma: lightly floral and citrus.
Initial Taste: A thin mouth feel, upon entry its sweet with no bitterness. First taste is earth.
Body: A very nice body consisting of earth, agave, citrus and slight pepper. I tasted all of these and they seem really well balanced.
Finish: A nice semi heated finish of short to medium duration, with a lingering taste of floral.

Its nose is bright (but not excessive) agave and spice. Entry is sweet agave which rolls over to a slight and very agreeable bitterness as the agave flavour deepens. Body is moderate and balanced. Finishes modestly with more agave and a light herbal note. Handmade blown-glass bottles completes this outstanding package. This is the blanco against which I measure the others.

NOM 1457 La Quemada. I ordered this bottle from Hi-Time for $50.00. A lot of extra work goes into the creation of this virgin organic tequila before it ever hits your tongue. It shows, and I appreciate that. This blanco stands out in the crowd not because its necessarily better than the rest but because it's so good at being unique among other blancos. For tequila to rate exceptional in my book it must cover three bases well. Agave taste, tequila flavor, and alcohol balance. 4 Copas balances all three of theses quite nicely. Its pure cooked agave peppery taste and citrus nose are not overly intense. It has a very traditional tequila profile that is medium bodied, low in bitterness, and high in sweetness. Its perfect balance of alcohol burn and harshness make this an excellent sipper and mixer. The bottles beautiful deep azul gradient to clear glass and artwork presentation, especially when lit up, rounds out this top shelf addition to any bar.

This tequila is very sweet, very smooth, and finishes short. There is a buttery feel in the mouth, but I would be hesitant to call it even medium bodied. It's very, very light. There is a moderate amount of agave, but I didn't experience any "intense" flavors.

All in all, I think it's a great effort; and it would probably mix extremely well. Even just for shear contrast between this and Case Noble or Don Valente, it is worth checking out.

NOM 1457 ? Tasted 3/4/07. 4 Copas Blanco is clear in color. Aromas consist of intense earth and floral followed by moderate fruit, smoke, pepper, and spice scents. The first sip of the tequila is sweet and has a low-to-no amount of bitterness. The types of flavors 4 Copas Blanco has include intense earth and floral. On the mild side, there are agave, spice, pepper, and smokey flavors. Unfortunately, the tequila finished with a short duration of flavor and a slight tingly alcohol intensity. I awarded 4 Copas Blanco the rating of ?B+? overall.

I have tried 4 copas tequila just a few times and I have found out is that taste/aroma in this tequila is very good but tasting notes are a bit limited and it is just a bit too smooth for me. When I am sipping tequila I want to know what it is and experience it full force. But it is such sweet tequila with a good nose that combines the cooked agave with raw agave, worth having in your bar.

The aroma surprises with an inviting smell that makes one dream of the perfect margarita. The initial taste is smooth and slightly sweet, yet the body of the tequila is present. This alcohol is sweet and pure and finishes without a wince or cringe that one expects from brands that pride themselves on harshness. It is extremely drinkable and sippable. It is a bargain at its price. I saw a bottle illuminated on the top shelf of a bar and it was beautiful. I love this tequila.
