Upon presentation to friends, I was offered bribes to sell a bottle to a couple of guests. Maestro Tequilero Tequila Anejo was a hit at our cook out.

The finish is marked with agave and a little wood flavour.

It has a little strong alcohol flavoured sense in al tasting mixed with the agave and a little woody note, very constant and not many complex with the progress of time rolling in your mouth.

There are better añejos out there and artesanales that definetely are much better for the same price but for this one the price is not excesive to me.

Now that someone has given me a gift bottle and can try it at my leisure, I remain unimpressed. Attractively and securely packaged (so you can get it home intact, to be sure) colour is an unusually dark mahogany-gold. Nose is diverse with deep herbal and chemical aromas - something similar to camphor. Nose fails to improve with exposure. An over-reaching bitterness dominates the body and the agave fails to present itself. This tequila stumbles and muddles into a harsh, unsatisfying finish. Aftertaste is mineral and chemical with strong alcohol bite. Hmmm.... Like the 1800 Anejo, Maestro Tequilero is a Cuervo product, but apart from the NOM 1122, it carries no mention of Jose Cuervo anywhere on the product. I'll have to find a home for this one, too... but not on my bar.
