I found my bottle in a giant Total Wine store in Orlando, Florida near Universal Studies. They had exactly one bottle left in a store with a very large selection of tequila (at least for the East Coast). I took this as a good sign - and bought the bottle for around $40.00. It came with a colorful box and the bottle itself is rivaled in weight only by DeLeon products. It is perhaps my favorite non-descript bottle of tequila.
In a Riedel glass, the tequila is the color of light honey or light brown sugar water. The legs are thick, numerous and drain slowly to the liquid's surface. Aromatics are not particularly complex but agave is strong with undercurrents of vanilla and caramel. A second and third sniff brings out more, but it is difficult to pin down the elements in the nose. First taste offers strong toasted agave that is not too sweet with a moderate alcohol burn. The second taste is more refined with notes of roasted nuts, toffee, light wood and a burnt brown sugar (not sweet). First finish has medium throat burn and the subsequent swallows diminish slightly. Pedigree could be more refined but I am really falling for this tequila due to price, presentation and persistence. It has a certain "something" - at least for me.
